Cutting Edge by Si Applied Ltd. (Chris Knight, Brett Payne and Keith Tyssen) with Keiko Mukaide, commisioned in 2007 by Sheffield City Council. Part of the and Heart of the City project. The stainless steel blade gains height as it runs downhill from the pedestrian crossing at the bottom of Howard Street towards the Midland Station entrance. The ends, ranging from 1m to 4.5m, are decorated with backlit glass by Mukaide and is also lit along the 90m long length of the base. It acts as a barrier beween pedestrians and traffic.
